Sumoco, Inc. d/b/a Sumo Championship League (“SCL,” “we,” “us,” “our” – note: these terms refer to Sumoco, Inc. and its successors and assigns and no other party) respects your privacy. This notice explains what we collect when you use this website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your information.

What we collect

We collect information you give us through the forms on this site and information your browser provides automatically when you visit.

Information you give us

  • Fan email signup form (Home, About, News, Footer). We collect your email address. If you choose, you can also provide your first name, city/state, and answers to a short set of additional questions about your interest in SCL and other sports you follow.
  • Sponsor inquiry form (Prospective Sponsorship and Marketing Partners). We collect your name, company, role, email, phone (if provided), industry category, a description of your brand if you write one, and how you heard about SCL.
  • Athlete interest form (Athletes). We collect your name, email, phone (if provided), city/state, country, age, sex, competitive weight, experience level, a description of your competitive background, and the photo or video you upload.
  • Press inquiry form (Press & Media). We collect your name, publication, role, email, inquiry type, and a description of your inquiry.

Information your browser provides

When you visit this site, our hosting and analytics tools may receive standard technical data: IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, referring page, pages visited on the site, and timestamps. We use this information to keep the site running and to understand how visitors use it.

We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking. The site uses essential cookies for site functionality (form submission, signup confirmation).

How we use your information

We use the information you give us to:

  • Respond to your inquiry, athlete application, or sponsorship interest.
  • Send you the email updates you signed up for.
  • Build and improve SCL — including understanding our audience to plan events, communications, and partnerships.
  • Provide information to our sponsors and marketing partners for marketing and promotional purposes.
  • Comply with applicable laws and respond to legal requests.

We use the technical information your browser provides to keep the site secure, troubleshoot problems, and understand site usage.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their independent marketing purposes.

Who we share your information with

We share information as needed to operate this site and respond to you:

  • Service providers. FluentCRM (which stores contacts and manages our email communications) and ConvertKit (which processes signup-form submissions) receive the information you submit through the forms. Our website hosting provider and any analytics service we use receive the technical information your browser provides. Each of these providers is contractually limited to using the information only to provide the service.
  • Legal compliance. We will disclose information when required by law, court order, or other valid legal process.
  • SLC Sponsors and Marketing Partners. We may disclose information to SCL’s third party sponsors and marketing partners.
  • Business transfers. If SCL is acquired by or merges with another company, your information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you before any such transfer if it would affect how your information is treated.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information only as long as we have a reason to:

  • Fan signup data — for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we remove you from our active list. We may retain a record of your prior subscription for legal and operational purposes.
  • Sponsor inquiries — for the duration of active conversations and a reasonable period after, to support follow-up and renewal discussions.
  • Athlete interest data — through the selection process for the season you registered for.
  • Press inquiries — for the duration of the inquiry and reasonable follow-up.
  • Technical data — for shorter periods sufficient to operate and secure the site.

You can ask us to delete your information at any time. See “Your rights” below.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over the information we have about you. These include:

  • You can request a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • You can request that we correct information that is inaccurate.
  • You can request that we delete information we hold about you.
  • Opt out of marketing. You can unsubscribe from any email at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email or by writing to us.
  • You can request a copy of your information in a portable format.

California residents (CCPA)

California law gives you additional rights about your personal information:

  • The right to know what categories of personal information we have collected, the categories of sources, the purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties we share it with.
  • The right to delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information in the senses defined by California law.
  • The right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia , without giving effect to its principles of conflict or choice of law.

Jurisdiction and Venue

Any and all disputes or controversies of any nature between you and Sumoco, Inc. or otherwise them arising at any time regarding the subject matter hereof shall be determined by binding arbitration in accordance with the rule of JAMS before a single neutral arbitrator (who shall be an attorney with at least ten (10) years’ experience in the subject matter hereof  or a retired judge) in Atlanta, Georgia.  All arbitration proceedings shall be closed to the public and confidential and all records relating thereto shall be permanently sealed, except as necessary to obtain court confirmation of the arbitration award. Notwithstanding the forgoing, we shall be entitled to file an action for temporary or preliminary injunctive relief to enforce the terms hereof in the Federal and State courts located in Atlanta, Georgia having proper subject matter jurisdiction.

EU and UK residents

If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar data-protection law, you may have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or comparable law. The rights above (access, correction, deletion, portability, opt-out of marketing) apply to you. Children

This site and SCL’s services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us at information@sumochampionshipleague.com and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you provide. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top. For material changes, we will notify you by email if you have signed up for our updates, or by posting a prominent notice on the site.
