Why it matters: The Atlanta-based Sumo Championship League wants to import Japan’s centuries-old national sport to North America and beyond at a time when niche and startup sports are booming.
Zoom in: Former Turner Broadcasting executive and WWE president Stuart Snyder and Toper Taylor, an Emmy-winning producer and former William Morris Agency (now Endeavor) talent agent, are launching the league.
