INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Stuart Snyder, chief executive officer of the Sumo Championship League (SCL), announced ambitious plans to bring professional sumo wrestling to U.S. arenas starting this fall.
For Snyder, known for his leadership roles at Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and WWE, this venture is a return to his roots in entertainment with a strong focus on community and family engagement.
Sumo wrestling, a sport with a 1,500-year history, offers a unique blend of tradition, honor and fast-paced action.
Snyder emphasized the sport’s distinctive appeal: “Sumo is more than just a sport; it’s a cultural experience rooted in respect and heritage. It’s family-friendly entertainment that connects audiences across generations.”
